Once again this year e-facilitators involved in the Punt TIC Network shared experiences and best practices in the Social Internet Day organized by the Catalan Regional Government and held on 30th November in the Cibernàrium - MediaTIC building, in Barcelona.
The Social Internet Day has once again aroused the interest of many people with 150 people attending the event in person and other 200 following it online. 2.0 and social Internet tools were also used in the event and its twitter hashtag (JdIS12 #) received over 500 tweets. Punt TIC network’s facilitators were accompanied by ICT manager, representatives of the Government of Catalonia and professionals from the technology and third sector.
Carles Flamerich - Director General of Telecommunications and Information Society in functions - and Jordi Roca - Training Operational Manager of Barcelona Activa in the City Council - opened the event, stressing the importance of public ICT points in the current society.
The event this year was also celebrating the 10th anniversary of the network highlighting its main goals, with special attention to those addressing actual problems like employability promotion, co-working, social innovation, robotics education, and networking.
The Social Internet Day 2012 ended with a panel discussion on future collaborations and strategies of telecentre networks, which included the participation of Juan Francisco Delgado - president of the Spanish Association of Community Telecentre Networks-, Gabriel Rissola - Manager-Director of Telecentre.Europe - and Ricard Faura - Head of Service of the Knowledge Society in the Catalan Government. Miguel Raimilla - Executive Director of Telecentre.org Foundation - could not join in person, but made it through a video recorded the day before in the Citilab-Cornellà.
The event also included a marketplace where different entities and projects related to Social Internet were represented. Fundación Esplai was present in this space disseminating two of their current projects: Conecta Joven and SocialWeb - SocialWork.
